Our Little Apple

WEEK 15

I didn't post about my first trimester like I thought I was going to do... long story short.  I have spent my time sleeping and hanging out with my friend the toilet.  I have had the glorious morning sickness.  I am starting to get more energy which is nice.  I love being able to get up from sleeping and not feel like I haven't slept a couple of days.

I have been starting to crave foods.  I love salads, apples, and tomato sandwiches.

FUN THINGS ABOUT HOW OUR BABY IS DEVELOPING:
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.") (source)

The First Appointment

My first appointment with the Perinatologist was on July 19...

I'm not as far along as I expected... I think we found out we were pregnant when we were only two or three weeks along CRAZY!!!

They did a ultrasound and guess what I have a tipped uterus which I think I knew that from my 2 previous pregnancies.  So they had to do the other one...  and when we were expecting to see a little peanut we saw no peanut but a little yolk sack yep that is right we got to see our little baby before it is a peanut.  The Perinatologist and the nurse said that they could see the heart flicker.  We couldn't.  The good news Herm looks like a healthy pregnancy the Dr. said something about it being a diamond pregnancy because Herm is so perfectly round.  So in another couple weeks my hubby and I will be doing another ultrasound to see the peanut.

When it comes time for the 20th week ultrasound it will be up to my doctor if he sends me to the Perinatologist or someone at his office.  The doctor told us when we would be seeing her more frequently around the 35th week.  I will start going to her and my other doctor weekly.  The Perinatologist will be running the stress test on Herm.  At 37 weeks we can make the decision to do a test to see if Herm's lungs are fully developed if they are they will induce me the next day.  They also said that if I was feeling good I could go up to 39 weeks and they would induce me a week early.  We will see when the time comes what will happen.  Mind you that I had my stillborn at 38 weeks so I don't think I will want to go past 38 weeks.

They said they just saw one yolk sac and one flicker of a heartbeat YEPEE!!! I HAVE A BABY GROWING IN ME!!!

and the followup with our regular doctor:

Before the First Visit

I'm so nervous... about the doctors appointment on Tuesday.  I am still kind of in shock that I'm pregnant.  We have been trying for 6+ months and I can't believe that we finally are pregnant.  I don't know what to expect with the Perinatologist visit.  I know that my normal Dr. were going to call him Dr. W. how the visits go.  I just don't know how it is going to go with the Perinatologist. What I'm hoping is that they will do an ultrasound and that we will see a little peanut and a heartbeat.  I am also hoping that we will have a healthy pregnancy.  I had my first miscarriage in the month of July so my mind is worried about seeing it happen all over again.  I'm staying positive but my mind does wander to the dreadful day when I found out that we were pregnant and than less than a week later I went through a miscarriage.  I have been starving and extremely tired so I think that is a good sign with the pregnancy.  I just wanted to write down my thoughts about going to the Perinatologist because I don't want it going around and around in my head and getting me all stressed out.

*There will be another post at noon today

Our Little Poppy Seed

WEEK 4:
(July 10-17)

I think for right now my weeks are changing on Saturdays but I won't really be sure until the 19th of July.  I still don't know what really to expect at the Perinatologist doctors appointment.  Hubs and I are getting quite excited about the visit.  We are hoping that this visit we get to see our little lentil on the ultrasound machine and see the heart beat.  We are also wondering if there is a possibility I could be pregnant with twins.  If we are that is great!  If we are only pregnant with one baby that is also great!  We are just so excited to be pregnant.  You know how I said this pregnancy will be x2 the doctors visits.  Well we have the Perinatologist on Tuesday and on Wednesday we have a followup appointment with our normal Dr.  The craziness of two doctors has already started.

Pregnancy Symptoms I have this week:
  • Frequent trips to the bathroom
  • Food Cravings- I wake up starving I have a bag of saltine crackers right to the side of my bed.
  • Heartburn
  • Sleeping...
  • and the new one Nausea is kicking in... I have yet to throw up just the butterflies are in my tummy.
So to look forward to this week:
  • The Perinatologist Visit
  • Dr. W's visit.
we are all quite excited!!!

The baby this week is as big as a poppy seed.  As you could tell by the blog title.

What is helping the baby live right now:
Also present now are the amniotic sac, which will house your baby; the amniotic fluid, which will cushion her as she grows; and the yolk sac, which produces your baby's red blood cells and helps deliver nutrients to her until the placenta has developed and is ready to take over this duty. Our Little Blastocyst

WEEK 3:
(July 3-10 )

I think I'm on week 5 but not sure yet on July 19 we will actually know how far along I really am.  I am so excited/nervous about this  Perinatologist appointment I don't know what to expect.  Everyone that I have told so far about me being pregnant thinks that I could be pregnant with twins because of how dark the lines came out.  I wouldn't really mind twins... but I don't want to get my hopes up.  For now I'm just thinking that we are having one and if the Perinatologist says different we will be overjoyed.

My baby  is a Blastocyst: a clump of cells multiplying to become a baby.

I have some new pregnancy symptoms this week they include: (*week 3)
  • Frequent trips to the bathroom
  • Food Cravings- I wake up starving I have a bag of saltine crackers right to the side of my bed.
  • Heartburn
  • Sleeping... but usually after my normal 8 hours of sleep I wake up and want to go eat and have energy... than around the evening before I go into work I take a nap that usually last around 1 to 3 hours.  On my weekends that is a completely different story if I get out of bed I'm lucky!
This week I don't have a doctors appointment and I'm just getting anxious for the next doctors appointments.

*we found out on July 19 that we were around 5 weeks 2 days

Thoughts on how this is going to go...

My hubby and I found out on July 7, 2011 that we are expecting a baby.
This is a blog about my journey throughout this pregnancy.
I'm going to include in this blog weekly updates, pictures, symptoms of pregnancy, my feelings, and doctor visits(x2).

I have two doctors for this pregnancy because I'm considered to have High Risk Pregnancy's.
I had a miscarriage in July 2009,
I had a stillborn daughter at 38 weeks in August of 2010.

I have always heard that the Third Time is a Charm so here it goes...

SURPRISE!!!

I have very exciting news!!! We found out in July and have been keeping it a secret up until now.  We wanted to wait until it was safe to announce the good news.  Were pregnant!!!  We found out on July 7 and on July 8 I was already seeing my doctor.  I had the fun fancy things of every prenatal visit.

Pregnancy Symptoms as of July 8, 2011 and what I was experiencing through June 2011:
  • Heartburn
  • Sleeping a lot longer than the hubs
Poor Hubs Pregnancy Symptoms as of July 9, 2011:
  • morning sickness
Why Hubs has pregnancy symptoms also:

THIS ARTICLE is about why do some men experience pregnancy such as vomiting and nausea when their wives are pregnant?
Short Answer: When pregnancy symptoms such as nausea, weight gain, mood swings and bloating occur in men, the condition is called couvade, or sympathetic pregnancy.

Poor Poor Hubs has the sympathetic pregnancy.  His morning sickness has started on July 9 mine however hasn't come out to play yet.  Which I am happy about the longer I can keep eating and getting fluid is for the better.  Isn't it a little funny that two days after we found out that we were preggers he is already getting the morning sickness.

Taking the pregnancy test:
I got to share this story because I want to remember everything about this little baby that I'm growing.  On July 2 my period was suppose to start.. I waited until July 7 at midnight to buy the pregnancy test.  On July 6 we were hanging out with our friends and they just barely adopted their little girl.  My friend is so sweet and was letting me hold her little girl and feed her.  I got the impression this is going to be me soon.  After our friends left I went to hubby and said lets go to Wal-Mart to get a pregnancy test.  We jumped in the car and I went into the store.  Everyone and their dog decided to go shopping for the month.  I grabbed the test and waited in line for over 10 minutes talk about nerve racking.  When I FINALLY got to the cashier it was a guy and he asked wish you well or not?  I said wish us well.  (we have been trying for over 6 months)  We got home... I asked hubby if we should wait until we wake up or could I do it now.  Let's just say that pregnancy test was burning a hole through my hand.  Within the minute after I took it we knew.  I had to call for hubby to come to the bathroom because I couldn't believe my eyes.  After hubby got into the bathroom the line was as dark as the test line.  WERE PREGNANT!!! I cried I was so happy.

First Doctors appointment:
I sent a picture of the stick to my sister via text messaging right when I took it. When my sister woke up she saw the happy news.  My sister texted me saying what a wonderful gift for my nieces (her daughter turned 1 on the 7th) birthday!  My sister invited me to go along to her daughters doctors appointment we have the same family doctor.  My doctor asked how I was doing and I said I took a pregnancy test this morning and it was positive.  My doctor than had me go to set up an appointment with the Perinatologist.  I than set up an appointment to see my doctor the next day.  I got a phone call later that day and I had an appointment with the Perinatologist on July 19.  On July 8 we went to the doctors and I'm right along schedule.  Everyone that has seen the pregnancy test lines have said either your further along than you expect or your having twins.  The doctor told me this pregnancy will work out he asked if I knew it and I just said okay.  My doctor than said I understand your not going to feel safe until you see that first breath of air.  Which is very true.  Well the doctor says I'm right on schedule the baby should be a February/March baby.  I don't know yet if I'm having twins.  Because when I wrote this it was still July 8.  I guess we will find out on July 19 when they do a bigger evaluation of this pregnancy.

My baby is now a size of a poppy seed... but by the time I tell you it will be big as a Lemon.

Nicknames for the baby already:
Herm (my sister is calling my tummy Herm because it can be a girl or a boy)

My feelings:
I am overjoyed with happiness.
I got to take this pregnancy one step at a time.

I am writing every week of my pregnancy and what symptoms I have so expect to see a couple of posts for the next couple of days about week 4ish  through week 14ish. (they are scheduled in advance so you will get to see the feelings of what I'm feeling that week)

at 4 weeks

at 14 weeks

(I had to keep this secret for 10 whole weeks it was hard and I was so excited to share the news that is why I made this blog when we found out and all the pictures of hopes and dreams to own for babies was me doing a little dreaming)
